The Department of Otolaryngology’s Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology focuses on disorders of the ear, nose, and throat (ENT) in children. Comprehensive diagnostic, treatment, and management services are specially designed to provide optimum care for children and adolescents of all ages.
The Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology is headed by Daniel S. Samadi, M.D., a board-certified otolaryngologist with extensive expertise in treating ENT disorders in children of all ages. Since joining the medical staff of Hackensack University Medical Center’s Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital in 2003, Dr. Samadi has also been director of the Cochlear Implant Center. The center, one of only several in New Jersey, provides the breakthrough treatment of cochlear implantation for pediatric and adult patients with profound sensorineural (nerve) hearing loss.
Dr. Samadi received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. He did his fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia/University of Pennsylvania Medical Center.
Dr. Samadi has been involved in basic and clinical research throughout most of his education and after graduation: at New York University (where he earned a B.A. in biochemistry), Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He has attended special courses in pediatric endoscopy, sino-nasal diseases, rhinoplasty, thyroid cancer, and laryngeal surgery. He has delivered grand rounds at universities and meetings on the topics of thyroid cancer, pediatric airway problems, pediatric sinusitis, penetrating trauma to the neck, pediatric laryngotracheal reconstruction, and congenital cholesteatoma in children.
